A trial lawyer for 29 years, and senior partner of the firm, Brian Harnik is an aggressive and successful advocate in civil litigation and general business law. He has tried cases in courts around the country. His practice consists of sophisticated civil litigation, land use and real estate development, entitlements and environmental issues and business transactions. He represents large and small real estate developers in all aspects of development and growth.

He is also admitted to practice before various Federal Courts in California and New York, Ninth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. He sits periodically as Judge Pro Tempore and as settlement judge for the Riverside County Superior Court in Indio, California.

Mr. Harnik was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He earned his degrees from the State University of New York at Binghamton, (B.A. 1978) and Boston University Law School (J.D. 1981). In 1988, Mr. Harnik moved to California and became a co-founder of Roemer & Harnik in 1990.

Mr. Harnik served as an Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn from 1981 through 1988. He was a senior trial attorney in the County’s Homicide Bureau, where he tried numerous murder and manslaughter cases. He was also a trial supervisor in the Sex Crimes and Special Victims Bureau and trial attorney for the Major Offense Prosecution Program. In 1988 he worked for the Los Angeles based firm of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges LLP. In 1990, he formed Roemer & Harnik which specializes in a wide variety of civil matters.

Mr. Harnik is a co-founder of CV Strategies, Inc., a strategic communications and public relations firm serving the Coachella Valley and Inland Empire. He serves as its chairman and Chief Financial Officer.

He is a past president of the Desert Bar Association, is the vice president of the Boys and Girls Club of Coachella Valley, and is a founding member of The Warren E. Slaughter Richard I. Roemer American Inn of Court. Mr. Harnik also sits on the board of directors of the Desert Town Hall – Indian Wells and serves as vice president. He is currently a director of Sunrise Bank, a member of its executive committee as well as the chair of the bank’s risk liaison committee. Mr. Harnik is general counsel to The Living Desert, and serves as counsel to Hidden Harvest.

Mr. Harnik and his wife Jan have four daughters and reside in Palm Desert, California. They are both very active in education and community related activities throughout the Coachella Valley.
